  1. Classes will be held at the studio located at 111 East Main Street Ottumwa, Iowa. Registered participants will have access to studio use during the 8-week learning period. (2 to 3 hours per week should be enough time to finish your first project- you are welcomed to spend as much time as you wish in the studio during operational hours)
  2. You will be working with glass – a sharp item especially when wet. General safety must be observed at all times. Safety glasses are required and will be provided to you. No open toed shoes are allowed in the studio. This is a working studio so the smells of chemicals and soldering fumes may be present. Any physical limitations should be addressed prior to signing up for the class. Bridge City Emporium is not responsible for your accidents so therefore safety practices should be used at all times.
  3. No outside supplies are to be brought into the studio. The sale of glass and supplies cover the overhead of the studio and keep the over all class price affordable.
  4. Classes are private- do not bring children or friends with you to studio time.
  5. Each student will be provided with a 4x4 work table and all the necessary supplies to build your first project. All tools and supplies with the beginner kit are yours to keep at the end of the course.
  6. Pop, snacks, and whatever makes you comfortable in your work area are allowed as long as it is not a distraction to others.
  7. Your first project will be your own creation of approximately 20x20 inches. Before the first class you should think about where this piece will be in your home and an idea of what you want to build. Individual help will be given to help you in your design.
  8. All stained glass supplies are provided for your beginning project-however for your convenience you may want to bring the following items with you for your own personal use. A pair of scissors, paper towels, a small hammer, a sharpie marker, a small tote to keep all your supplies in, & paper for pattern transfer. Your beginning kit will include- a soldering iron, soldering iron stand, flux brush, flux, solder, wheel cutter, horseshoe nails, copper foil, poster board, safety glasses, and “A” type easy cut glass.
  9. You will be supplied with all you need for your first project- Additional supplies (bevels- or specialty glass) can be charged to your account however a finance charge of 18% is added on the first of the month to outstanding balances. No project will leave the studio until all charges have been paid.
  10. Intermediate students have already completed the beginner’s course and have the supplies needed to continue in stained glass production. Intermediate students will have access to the glass grinder and studio space. No outside product is to be brought into the studio. The intermediate student is usually the person who doesn’t have the space in their home for glass production, doesn’t want the mess in their home, and enjoys the class atmosphere- the Intermediate student is able to build whatever they wish with instructor’s help.
  11. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver.
