Fancy Frames for Stained Glass PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 23 February 2010 08:43

Heres a great idea for those of you that want a good sized window but don't have the space or manpower to wrestle it on the table. These frames are made up of many smaller sized pieces to create a larger work of art.  (some of the frames don't even require that you have to solder anything- just cut the glass and insert)

We are so happy to announce the addition of our very own fancy frame line for your stained glass projects.

Many of our frames have that "Old World" feel with the incorporation of Victorian, Gothic and Americana stylings. They are constructed specifically to display your work in glass. Our line is designed so that you can add pieces to one another and create large designs of your own

These frames are manufactured here from our studios- they can be painted or stained and are a great addition to any home or office space. Designs range from Victorian to Gothic to simply geometric shapes. Whether you use stained glass or mirrors these are a true work of art when placed over a window or hung on a wall.

Many of the pieces are sized to fit together to create HUGE frames- you are only limited by your imagination. We can also create custom frames around your existing work- just contact us for the details.

Stained Glass Class Sign up PDF Print E-mail

Beginner's Stained Glass Class- starting in March of 2010!!

Beginner Stained Glass Classes run for a total of 8 weeks, during this time you will create a panel project of aproximately 20x20 in size. All the needed materials and supplies are provided to you as you build your first project in the copperfoil technique as used by Tiffany Glass of New York.

Classes are held in the Bridge City Emporium located at 111 East Main Street in downtown Ottumwa Iowa.

Because we are cutting glass please no open-toed shoes- wear shoes that are comfortable as you will be on your feet most of the time. Classes are private do not bring children or friends with you to class. Safety Glasses are required when working with glass in the studio and will be provided. This is a working studio so smells of turpentine and chemicals will be a part of the experience. Any physical limitations should be addressed prior to signing up for a class.

You will learn and progress at your own speed so there is not a rush to keep up with others. We train you in a group and individual atmosphere. You will learn glass design and production of your first project along with other beginners in the art of stained glass.

You will have a private table in the studio to produce your work- Coffee, Pop, and snacks are OK to bring to class- your table is your area to create so make it as comfortable as your wish.

There is a limited number of work stations and they are available on a first come first serve basis. The 8 week course is $350.00 and includes, a soldering iron, a soldering iron stand, glass cutter, cutter oil, horseshoe nails, glass breaking pliers, copper foil, soldering flux, safety glasses, 64 hours studio time, and glass for your 20x20 panel project. All items provided are yours to keep for your next project. The glass grinder is provided for your use during studio time so you are not required to purchase one. You as the artist may want to bring a ruler, scissors, paper, felt tip marker for drawing on glass.

Studio is open Saturday from 9-5pm and you are welcomed to spend the whole day there or whatever fits your schedule.

A non-refundable deposit of $75 is required to hold a spot for the upcoming class. Payment for class can be financed over the length of the class however there is a finance charge for this that occurs every month. No project leaves the studio until it is paid for. Sales Tips PDF Print E-mail

When selling your artwork online or in the brick and mortar storefront

I encourage you to write full descriptions for each artwork you put on the market, as well as a bio and artist statement.

Not only should these paragraphs be easy to read and free of spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes, but they should also be optimized for search engines like Google and Yahoo.

“Optimizing for search” just means using the same keywords in your descriptions and titles that art buyers use when searching for artwork online

This whole process isn’t necessarily easy, but it will work over time. Don’t get disappointed in a week or a month when nothing seems to have changed. After six months, take a look back.
